Q: How do you protect the data stream during a session?
A: officeDesk Live has built-in 128-bit RSA RC4 stream encryption. All data sent to and from your computer to our servers is fully encrypted. The Remote Desktop Web Connection uses the well-known RDP TCP port (3389) to communicate to the server. Unlike some other display protocols (which send data over the network using clear text or with an easily decodable "scrambling" algorithm), Remote Desktop Web Connection's built-in encryption makes it safe to use over any network -- including the Internet -- as the protocol cannot be easily sniffed to discover passwords and other sensitive data.
Q: How do you safeguard the privacy of my data?
A: Nerd Patrol has a strong privacy policy and will not disclose any of your personal information to third parties. Personal data is fully encrypted to and from our servers to the client. Client information can only be accessed when permission is granted by the client.
Q: What securities features are used to protect access to my information?
A: Strong Password Requirements: officeDesk Live requires that passwords be at least 6 characters long and must contain three different types of characters (small letters, capital letters, numbers, symbols, and must not contain any part of your name or the word “password”). These requirements protect you from using easily compromised or common passwords.
Inactivity Timeout: Your officeDesk Live is designed to automatically lock your computer screen and log you off the session if your screen remains idle for more than 5 minutes.
Limited Number of Log-In Attempts: To protect against hacker attacks, officeDesk Live limits the number of times you can attempt to log in unsuccessfully.
Customizable User Rights and Permissions: Every client has the option to grant or restrict rights to certain folders and files within the client's environment.
Lock Computer Screen: You can manually lock your screen while you are connected to officeDesk Live if you have to walk away from your computer to eliminate eavesdropping.
